AMS building new Women’s Health Center
Since opening full time in 2008, the Africa Mission Services (AMS) women’s clinic has seen exponential growth in the numbers of women coming for care. Maternity alone saw 341 babies delivered in the first six months of 2021. That growth is one of the reasons a groundbreaking for a new Women’s Health Center will take place in January 2022.

The desire for comprehensive women’s health care, and not just maternity care, is another reason. The new health center will will ...
Construction teams work on second girls high school dormitory
For many Maasai, school ends for girls when they reach 7th or 8th grade. If a family has the money, a high school far away could be an option. Most, though, face a future that includes marriage at a young age and starting a family. The opening of Kensington Hall Oloosinon Girls Secondary School in January 2018 changed that.
The first group of 48 girls were excited to continue their studies as they planned to become lawyers, doctors, engineers and more.
Some of the first Form 1 girls to attend the high school.
One problem was where the girls were going to ...
Kettering Mission Trip (Part 2)
As I write the group is on their way to Nairobi. It's been a great week! The medical team saw over 700 patients at five different villages and the constructions team got all the brick walls up for the new clinic staff house! The past two day the group has enjoyed going on safari - viewing prides of lions, elephants, hyenas, rhino, and lots more - including a great view of a migration crossing!
Thank you volunteers for all the energy you put out this week - both the construction and medical teams! We have enjoyed having you as part of the AMS family! Thank you for ...
NetApp Volunteer Team (Part 1) – Completes Dinning Hall!
It was last September that Mei visited Mara West as a safari client and the vision of a dinning hall at the Oloosinon Primary Boarding School was born. Since then, many joined her vision and worked to make the project a reality. Several groups joined AMS this year in working on this project - from laying brick walls, to building the roof and furniture, painting, and more! On Thursday of this week the team of 16 volunteers did the final touches in preparation for the opening ceremony which took place September 12th, 2014! A special thank you to all who contributed to this ...
LLU Church Mission Trip
Slightly ahead of schedule, the LLU mission group landed in Nairobi July 7th at the early hour of 1:30 AM. With only one piece of luggage missing, the group loaded up and began their journey towards the Mara. At the half way point the group enjoyed a hot breakfast before arriving at Mara West Camp.
After a much needed night of sleep, the group started their first day at the project - working on the Oloosinon Primary School cafeteria. The school children welcomed the group with a few traditional songs and dances - even getting a few of the group to join the dance!
The ...
Oloosinon Cafeteria – Plastered!
After a good month of hard labour by the local construction team, the Oloosinon Primary School's cafeteria is plastered. In just a little over a week a team of volunteers from California will arrive to continue the work - getting the building one step closer to serving hot meals to hundreds of children!
Plastering the Walls!
The project of the Oloosinon Primary School cafeteria was started back in February of this year. We are thankful to all those who gave financially and of their time to make this building go up! While many volunteers come and help get projects up quickly - there is a lot of behind the scene work that our local construction crew does both prior to a groups arrival and after their departure. Currently the crew is busy at work plastering the walls... A special thanks to the crew for all their dedicated hard work!

Olopikidongoe Primary School
The oldest primary school in the area and until recently the only boarding school within the district was in need of a major face lift. Ongoing support resulted in a new cafeteria, a dining area and a library including hundreds of books. Though everyone said it would be a useless endeavor and that local families would not pay the fees associated with girls boarding and education, AMS built a girls dormitory. The first year the facility become home to 90 girls. The next year that number grew to 120. School staff stated that many of the girls were placed in the dorm rather ...
Oloosinon Primary School
Few Maasai families have access to transportation, and this makes the need for schools located within walking distance of villages, or bomas as they are called, vital. Beginning as a one room school, the Oloosinon Primary School is now an eight-classroom school with more than 300 students every year. Continued support includes a lunch program, books, uniforms and recruiting donors to sponsor education opportunities for girls. A dormitory expansion is currently near completion.
