Dental Clinic

Imagine having dental pain and no where to go? This is a situation far too common for many rural Maasai. In 2014, Dr. Michael Boyko generously set up a dental clinic at the Africa Mission Services (AMS) Community Health Clinic. Currently, this clinic only operates when there are volunteer dentist to provide care. The clinic is outfitted with an electric dental chair, suction, dental x-ray, instruments, and consumable supplies. Given the fact that the clinic is open an average of 2-4 weeks a year, the dental need is great and patients many!

In addition to the dental clinic, volunteer dentist also have the opportunity to provide dental care at mobile clinic sites. Thanks to a generous donation, AMS is able to provide dentist with the use of a portable dental unit which contains a chair and delivery system.

Sadly, rural dental care has often consisted of merely extracting teeth with poor pain control. Through skilled volunteer dentist, AMS seeks to change this reality to one that includes pain control and restorative dental work. To those who have and those who will volunteer your time and skill – the SMILES say it all – thank you!
